QED - SS 08

Berlin based fashion label QED for Spring/Summer ‘08.

Quod Erat Demonstrandum, shortened to QED, is a Berlin based fashion label, founded by Julia Böge, Simona Gabrieli and Jasmin Moallim in 2006. During their studies at fashion school, the three discovered their common love for the colour black, which kick-started their subsequent collaboration, that has culminated in the debut collection “Jerry Lewis vs. Gari Kasparov” for fall/winter 06/07. A mixture between minimalism and playfulness, the garments adhere to the rules of classical menswear tailoring but mix up the uniformity with playful details. “Jerry Lewis vs. Kasparov” is a collection firmly rooted in the belief that intelligence is sexy- an intelligence made irresistible by its ironic self-contemplation. This debut collection emerged on the runway in January 2007 at the “Beck´s Fashion Experience”, where QED was selected as the only menswear collection on show in a field of designers set to represent the best in young German design talent.

The spring/summer collection 08, called “Nevermore” was inspired by the legendary poem “The raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. Different shades of black and grey, as well as garments in clear and elegant silhouettes but mixed up with casual and easy styles, refer to the inspiration. A dark, gloomy atmosphere, morbid lightness and the melancholy of the gone was transferred into the proposed look of the lost boy, rounded off with a selection of soft and natural materials as linen-, silk- and cotton-mixtures.

Due to the three personalities working on the collections, QED creates a unique mixture between minimalism and playfulness, exquisitely detailed, subtly extravagant, yet very wearable and high in quality.

The QED collections are designed and produced in Germany.
