Fremont is an emerging label from California. I don’t want to be too harsh, but for every item they make, hordes of alternatives can be found and there is little to differentiate this label from the rest. The jeans and pants are nice. The double breasted cardigan is nice. The blazers are nice. My doubts arise from whether they’re worth the price tags.
Fremont is a creative collaboration stemming from the mind of two young designers, Devin Carlson and Brittany Pham. They began working as a team with Jessica Loria in 2005, which is when they gave birth to their first SS06 collection. The collaboration came about when the three were running in the same social circle, Devin Carlson along with good friend Jessica Loria had just returned from a trip to Palm Springs and loved the aesthetic of a time when craftsmanship and leisure activity were valued before anything else. Brittany Pham was also thinking of starting a new line for a higher developing contemporary market. The three united and formed Fremont. The last few seasons the Designers have really come into their own and the Collection has developed from fun summer dresses and leisure trousers to a collection known for quality and being on the front line of creativity.
Devin Carlson is a recent graduate from California State University Fullerton, with a degree in advertising and a focus on creative design. In 2002 with a sense of industrial sewing & design he started his own line, selling by appointment only. He wanted to take what he was doing to the next level. He started to look elsewhere for a creative outlet, Brittany’s parents worked in manufacturing for over twenty years and thus she began sewing at a very young age. She began constructing her own clothes out of her house and started selling to local boutiques. After an overwhelming response she decided to launch a whole collection. Jessica began her interest in design after she started reconstructing and selling vintage clothing out of her garage. She is currently working as a fashion stylist in LA and doing visual merchandising on the side. After a recent trip to Palm Springs she gained inspiration to develop and create a new clothing line. This is when Brittany, Devin and Jessica all decided to work together leading to the threes companies that is Fremont. Fremont will to continue to explore our precedent decades that allowed us to indulge luxury into our everyday living.
