Los Angeles based label Corpus offers another reasonably priced fashion-forward collection for Fall/Winter 07. It’s difficult to complain about the collection.
Corpus, the brainchild of designers Jerrod Cornish, and Kieran Richardson is an innovative L.A. based clothing label. Having forged it’s reputation on it’s quality and forward denim line, Corpus is well on it’s in establishing itself as one of the leading menswear labels from the United States. The Corpus design philosophy is simple, modernizing timeless menswear pieces, from denim, to tailored woven shirts, and re-working them and reapplying modern fits and shapes. The result is a masculine, forward thinking product with a focus on detail, quality and fabrics. This development and progress has not gone unnoticed in the market, with New York powerhouse denim player Ernest Sewn investing in the growing company in 2005.
Frustrated by the over-priced, over-exposed, and over-treated denim lines flooding the market, Corpus created its core denim line as a reaction to this market. As a throwback to the 70’s, using only high quality (including Selvedge) denim, Corpus stripped back denim to its rawest and purest form, allowing the denim to evolve and age with its consumer. No sandblasting, no bleaches, Corpus have pioneered this shift to raw, cleaner denim through the United States.
Corpus’s Spring/Summer 07 collection saw the label (which was historically focused on t-shirts, denim and some outerwear) take a slightly different and more tailored design philosophy. Expanding the range to include a full jersey line, the SS07 collection also includes tailored slim blazers, and sophisticated woven shirts. The Corpus collection is clean, dark and simple, focusing on the fabric and shape itself, rather than over-treating it, for Corpus, less is more. Corpus has become one of the few who have been able to combine streetwear sensibility with tailored classics, etching a place in the market next to respected lines like A.P.C. Corpus is stocked in selected retailers around the world, including Barneys (N.Y), Nom De Guerre (N.Y), Steven Alan (N.Y), I.T (Hong Kong), Lane Crawford (Hong Kong) and Fabric (N.Z). Domestically, Corpus is stocked in key boutiques including Incu (Sydney), Cactus Jam (Melbourne), D-PO (Sydney) and Father (Perth).
